UN Security Council Meeting on Iran
A closed and special meeting of the United Nations Security Council was held regarding Iran’s role in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Prior to this meeting, various officials discussed with reporters the reasons for holding such a special session swiftly and the background of the heightened sensitivity towards Iran’s military presence in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Most Western officials specifically mentioned the need to examine the evidence and document the existing reasons against Iran. Following this meeting, the U.S. State Department spokesperson officially warned in a statement that Iran is violating UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and explicitly stated that Iran continues to provide military assistance to Russia in its occupation.
