On Monday, January 29th, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin pledged that the United States will take all necessary actions to defend its forces following the recent drone attack that resulted in the killing of three American servicemembers and the injury of dozens more.

The attack on Monday was the first deadly attack against US forces since the start of the Israel-Hamas war in October, signaling an escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

According to Reuters, Austin stated, ‘Allow me to begin my remarks with anger and grief over the deaths of three brave American soldiers in Jordan and other soldiers who were injured. President Biden and I will not tolerate attacks on American forces and we will take all necessary actions to defend the United States and our forces.’
