Unprecedented White House Criticism of Israeli Extremists
Following the harsh and destructive reaction of Smotrich, the extremist minister of the Israeli cabinet, to the proposed agreement plan put forward by the US, Egypt, and Qatar, John Kirby, advisor to Joe Biden and spokesperson for the US National Security Council, officially and for the first time criticized him at a White House press briefing. Admiral Kirby, mentioning Smotrich by name and reading from a pre-prepared text, warned Smotrich, stating that his criticisms and provocations are essentially based on the idea of continuing an aimless, endless war without considering the situation of the hostages.
He stated that while the US President is trying to defend Israel against a potential second attack from Iran, Smotrich’s accusation that by forcing Israel into an agreement, Biden is endangering Israel is outrageous. In part of the statement, Smotrich is explicitly condemned, and his views are described as ‘Dead Wrong,’ which is rare in diplomatic language.
