The U.S. Department of Justice has arrested an Iranian dual citizen on charges of illegal technology exports.
In a statement, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the arrest of an Iranian dual citizen on charges of illegally exporting American technology to Iran.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office has identified this Iranian-American citizen as Gholamreza Goudarzi or Ron Goudarzi, a resident of Porter, Texas, who was arrested on August 31 at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
This 76-year-old man is accused of smuggling parts and components used in the production of both unmanned and manned aircraft from the U.S. to Iran.
According to the statement by the U.S. Department of Justice, Mr. Goudarzi is currently in custody until September 6, when he will appear in court to address the reasons for his detention.
According to court documents, from November 30, 2020, to July 5, Gholamreza Goudarzi illegally exported aircraft parts, as well as oil and drilling components, to Iran.
