U.S. sanctions have left dozens of tankers linked to Iran stranded in Asia

The Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. pressure campaign against Iran has caused dozens of Iranian or Tehran-linked tankers to remain stranded in Asian waters.

According to the newspaper, the threat of sanctions has prevented these vessels from returning, docking at ports, and receiving services from suppliers.

Reports indicate that the reserves of food, fuel, and fresh water for the crew of some of these ships are running low.

The U.S. has also asked Sri Lanka and several other countries to refrain from providing services to the sanctioned ships.
