The US has sanctioned Iran’s oil products transfer network for the Houthis.
The United States says it has imposed sanctions on a network involved in oil smuggling and sanctions evasion linked to Yemen’s Houthi group, which operates in Yemen and the United Arab Emirates and intended to deliver millions of dollars worth of oil products from Iran to this group.
The US Treasury Department announced in a statement on Tuesday, July 31, that two individuals and five entities have been sanctioned as they are major importers of oil products and active in money laundering processes that benefit the Houthis.
Michael Faulkender, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, said in this regard that the Houthis collaborate with opportunistic traders to gain substantial profits from importing oil products and to access the international financial system.
He added that these suspicious trade networks support the Houthis’ terrorist machinery, and the Treasury Department will use all tools at its disposal to disrupt these schemes.
