The US Secretary of State traveled to Cairo for ceasefire talks
Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, has traveled to Cairo as part of his efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza and reduce tensions in the Middle East.
Blinken is expected to conclude his Middle East trip with a meeting with Israeli officials in Tel Aviv.
This comes as Israel has stated it will intensify its attacks on Rafah, a city full of refugees in southern Gaza.
Hamas has not yet given any official response to the new ceasefire proposal.
Earlier, reports had emerged of disagreements within the Hamas leadership regarding proposals related to the ceasefire in the conflict.
It seems that the duration of the ceasefire and Hamas’s role in the future of Gaza are the main obstacles to the ceasefire proposal.
