The United States has begun constructing a temporary pier to aid Gaza.
The U.S. Department of Defense announced that the country’s forces have started building a maritime pier on the shores of Gaza to expedite aid delivery to the residents of this strip.
The President of the United States promised the construction of this pier a month and a half ago amid reports of the extensive need for basic supplies among Gaza’s residents and the continuous expression of concerns by figures and the global community about a potential humanitarian disaster, with the condition that no American forces would enter Gaza.
Pentagon spokesperson Patrick Ryder confirmed on Thursday night, April 26, that U.S. military ships have begun the initial stages of the pier and temporary maritime passage in Gaza. About one thousand American soldiers are participating in this plan in coordination with Cyprus and Israel.
A coastal area southwest of Gaza City, which is relatively central in the Gaza Strip, has been designated for the pier’s construction.
