Ambiguous Response from the Guardian Council Spokesman Regarding the Arrest of Mirsalim’s Son

Hadi Tahan Nazif, the spokesman for the Guardian Council, in response to a question about whether the council considers security issues for the approval of qualifications, given the arrest of a parliament member’s son on charges of connections with the Mojahedin, said that the Guardian Council is obliged to inquire from four sources and makes its decision based on the received reports.

He stated that the amendment of the election law is based on the general election policies and said that the amendment of the election law has always been our demand. In the Guardian Council, we have no political categorization, and we consider the presence of all political tendencies within the framework of the law in the elections to be valuable. We are very interested in having the upcoming parliamentary elections conducted with the amended law.
