The President of Venezuela’s Parliament: All political prisoners must be released within a week

The President of Venezuela’s Parliament announced that all political prisoners covered by the new amnesty law must be released within a week at the latest.

Jorge Rodríguez, the President of Venezuela’s Parliament and brother of Delcy Rodríguez, the interim President of the country, stated that the new amnesty law is set to be finalized on Tuesday, and based on it, prisoners should be released by next Friday.

According to human rights groups, since the arrest of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by the United States, about three hundred and fifty prisoners have been released.

Estimates indicate that around seven hundred more people are still being held in Venezuelan prisons.
