Dehghani Firouzabadi, the Vice President for Science and Technology, says that if our perspective is to provide resources, loans, and housing to the elites, we will fail.
This perspective is not bad and there’s nothing wrong with it, but if we are to look at the elites with this perspective, we are likely to fail.
Imagine giving an engineer or a university professor a salary of 100 million tomans per month; they could live well in Tehran. But the same person is offered a salary of 15,000 dollars, equivalent to 750 million tomans, in Arab countries.
Therefore, if the only criterion is how much money we give, we neither can, nor is it the right thing to do.
If we shift the criterion towards how much resources we provide and how much direct support we offer to retain our talents, it is certainly a mistake because no matter how much we do, our hands are more tied compared to neighboring countries.
Our elites are asking for the space to play; we must provide them with an impactful platform.
