Exchange of prisoners between Russia and America

Ivan Greshkovich, a journalist for The Wall Street Journal, and Paul Willan, a former American gunner who were imprisoned in Russia on charges of espionage, were released along with Vladimir Kara Morza, a Russian politician and journalist, in a widespread exchange between East and West.

The President of Turkey announced the names of these three individuals among 26 other prisoners who were from the United States, Russia, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Norway, and Belarus, and were released in a large exchange from East to West on Friday, August 1.

According to the Turkish government report, 10 prisoners, including two young children, were transferred to Russia, 13 to Germany, and three to the United States.
