Widespread Protests in Bulgaria Against Corruption

Tens of thousands of people in Bulgaria protested outside the parliament and in various cities across the country against corruption, demanding the resignation of the government.

This is the latest in a series of protests that began last week following the release of the draft budget for the coming year in the country.

During these street protests, the offices of some political parties in Sofia, the capital, were attacked, and the police fired tear gas at the protesters.

Rumen Radev, the President of Bulgaria, has called for an end to the violence and has urged the government to resign.

The country is set to join the Eurozone on the first day of 2026, and for the first time, its financial affairs will be calculated in euros.
