The World Bank: 15% of deaths in Iran are due to air pollution
According to a World Bank report, air pollution causes approximately $23 billion in damages to Iran annually, with a significant portion attributed to premature deaths caused by pollution.

According to data from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, 15% of all deaths in Iran are attributed to air pollution, a figure much higher than the global average.
He adds that globally, the cost of deaths due to air pollution reaches $8.1 trillion annually, meaning about 6% of the global gross domestic product is lost.
Of this amount, 85% is related to premature deaths and 15% is related to diseases attributed to air pollution.
Estimates suggest that in total, about $3 billion of the annual air pollution damage in Iran is related to diseases directly attributed to air pollution.
