XTech has removed Iranian media

After the Technology Transparency Project accused X social network of violating US sanctions by receiving money for creating special or premium accounts for users under sanctions, X network removed Iranian media outlets such as Press TV, IRNA, Tasnim, Al-Alam, and Hispan TV on Friday, February 15th.

The Technology Transparency Project had criticized X network managers in a report for providing financial services to accounts affiliated with the Islamic Republic. The US Treasury Department had imposed sanctions on media outlets such as Tasnim and Pars TV last September.

Press TV confirmed the news of the removal of verification badges from the Twitter accounts of English, Arabic, and Spanish news networks Press TV, Al-Alam, and Hispan TV, as well as the Tasnim news agency and the official website of the Iranian government.

The official television network of the Russian government, RT, and the Tinkoff Commercial Bank in Moscow have also had their blue and gold verification badges removed.
