Yemeni security forces seized an Iranian ship carrying weapons off the southern coast of Yemen.
On Wednesday, October 21, Yemeni joint security campaign forces seized an Islamic Republic ship off the coast of Lahij province in the south of the country. This ship, which had departed from Bandar Abbas in the Islamic Republic, was heading towards areas under Houthi control. Onboard, an anti-tank Kornet missile, precise drone parts, Iranian medicines, and food supplies were discovered.
According to Yemeni security sources, the mentioned ship belonged to one of the Houthi commanders, and a hidden empty warehouse was also identified on it, which is suspected to have been previously used for transferring weapons at sea.
This ship was stopped near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait after precise monitoring and tracking operations, and its eight crew members, who were affiliated with the Houthi smuggling network, were arrested.
Abdulrahman al-Mahrami, a member of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, praised this action and emphasized that the successive successes of the security forces in uncovering weapons and smuggled materials are the result of vigilance and joint efforts to protect Yemen’s coasts against the illegal activities of the Houthi group.
