Zanganeh, former Minister of Oil: We sell cars very expensive to people

Bijan Zangeneh, former Minister of Oil, stated that we are selling cars at a very high price to the people.

Bijan Zangeneh, former Minister of Oil, said at the General Assembly of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce that we are selling cars at a very high price to the people. Let’s allow cars to compete so that people can buy the best cars.

Setting the price of export cars is mandatory. For exports, we need to produce something that others will buy, not sell a $15,000 car for $10,000 just to export it. This is not sustainable.

I believe gasoline should be made expensive when cars become very cheap.

We have not yet entered the cycle of development and still have problems interacting with the world. In this regard, in addition to the government, some of our elites, who have a journalistic rather than a realistic approach to the economy, are also to blame.

After the revolution, there is a kind of anti-West sentiment even among our elites, and whatever we produce, we claim it is better than the foreign equivalent, which is incorrect in many cases and holds us back from the global learning process.
