Zarif speaks about the cabinet

Zarif speaks about the cabinet, announcing in an Instagram post that the review of proposals received for government members is nearing completion.

In this post, Zarif wrote that the committees have conducted their reviews and have selected between 10 to 15 candidates for evaluation in the second stage.

In the second stage, candidates undergo more detailed evaluations in the committees, and if necessary, voluntary interviews are conducted with them.

He continued by emphasizing that committee members score candidates separately and confidentially, and these scores are automatically aggregated, with the results of each committee’s aggregation being sent to the Steering Council.

Almost all speculations about the results of the candidate reviews in the committees have been incorrect or incomplete, mostly published to disturb public opinion, create anxiety, or for news creation and psychological pressure.

He also announced that the Steering Council has randomly formed 5 groups for validating the scores of the committee candidates to carefully address received complaints and ensure the integrity of the process. The validation groups present their opinions on the integrity of each committee’s work to the Steering Council.

This process has been completed for several committees and will gradually be completed for the remaining ones.

So far, the reports from the validation groups indicate the integrity of the committees’ work, and in cases where there was ambiguity or a complaint, it has either been resolved with explanations from the relevant committee or actions have been taken to address the ambiguity, for which I must thank the committee members and officials who have carried out this task with precision and honesty.

The head of the Steering Council of the fourteenth government also wrote that as the dear elected President has repeatedly stated, he receives lists separately.

Although the final selection of government members is made by him, Dr. Pezeshkian has entrusted the review of these candidates to the Steering Council to ensure transparency and integrity.

Each member of the Steering Council, after reviewing reports from committee heads, secretaries, working group heads, and validation groups, and hearing the names and backgrounds of candidates directly presented to Dr. Pezeshkian, writes their opinion on the candidates introduced by the committees and the elected President confidentially.

Each council member can write the names of three candidates from the committees or the elected President’s lists on their survey form.

Council members can write the names of up to five candidates on their survey form, provided that two of them are from young people, women, or ethnic groups.

Zarif also emphasized that the survey forms are read and aggregated by two members of the relevant validation group during the session and are given to the head of the Steering Council.

The survey results from the committees and the Steering Council are aggregated onto one page and presented to the elected President along with detailed results.

According to the constitution, the final selection is with the President, who can introduce individuals from among these candidates or others to the Islamic Consultative Assembly for a vote of confidence.

The documented report of all committees and the Steering Council’s work is being prepared and, God willing, will be published in the future as the results of a bold and pioneering initiative proposed by Dr. Pezeshkian and executed by a number of experts, elites, representatives of sectors, members of the headquarters, and representatives of parties and civil society. The names of the candidates and the number of votes will remain confidential to respect individuals’ privacy and prevent any misuse.

He also addressed the citizens, emphasizing that this is a new experience that certainly has faced shortcomings and defects and needs to be corrected in the future.

In addition to the obvious shortcomings of this new experience, which we ourselves have acknowledged, there are also dissatisfactions with this process motivated by various reasons, from sincere concern to demands for shares and revenge against rivals, or even, God forbid, attempts to prevent the institutionalization of a transparent process outside the control of power and wealth circles. I hope the great people of Iran, with awareness and attention to the importance of this initiative, will not let news creation and rumors disrupt their determination and that of their elected officials for change.
