Zelensky’s 30-day ceasefire request rejected by Putin

Zelensky’s request for a 30-day ceasefire was rejected by Putin

The Kremlin rejected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s request for a 30-day ceasefire. This response came after Zelensky strongly criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposal for a three-day ceasefire coinciding with the annual Victory Day ceremony in Moscow.

According to the Kremlin’s plan, a unilateral ceasefire was supposed to be established from May 8 to 10, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. As per tradition, Putin is set to attend the May 9 parade in Moscow’s Red Square, an event that in recent years has been used to distort history and attack the West.

In his nightly video address on April 28, Zelensky questioned the necessity of waiting for the ceremony, saying, ‘Our value is human lives, not parades.’ He proposed an immediate, complete, and unconditional ceasefire for 30 days.
