Ukraine has become entangled in the equations of the US elections.
Jake Sullivan, the National Security Advisor to the US President, embarked on an undisclosed trip and met with various officials in Ukraine. During the meeting, the President of Ukraine awarded Sullivan with the national medal of Ukraine. However, beyond formalities and ceremonies, Sullivan unveiled a new $400 million US assistance to the Ukrainian army, which was well received by the Ukrainians.
The main objective of Sullivan’s trip to Kyiv was naturally not to announce this new round of assistance to Ukraine, and this could have been done in various ways. In this trip, he reassured Ukrainian officials and the public about one of their main concerns.
Given the living conditions and economy of the United States, two extremist factions within the two main parties of the country, who also have sympathies with the Russians, especially the extremist Republicans who are essentially supporters and admirers of the Russian leader, have cast doubt on the aid to Ukraine. These serious statements by extremist Republicans, along with the opinions and actions of Ukrainian extremist Democrats, have raised concerns among the Ukrainians.
Salion has reassured the Ukrainians that the aid to their country, army, and people will continue. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly spoken about this in the past two weeks, often with a trembling voice, emphasizing the ongoing support from the United States to their people.
