This crime is the most important election in the history of America.
As we approach the final hours of the 2022 elections, there is little doubt that Republicans will at least take control of the House of Representatives, and the battle for Senate control in the next two years is on Wednesday. From the beginning of the formation of election campaigns to compete in this year’s November and perhaps even earlier, it was predictable, especially in the House of Representatives, that the party of the President based in the White House in America would lose in midterm elections. This is not only a new phenomenon, but it is practically a tradition since the 1960s, with only two exceptions where the party of the President based in the White House has been able to add to its seats in the House of Representatives. One exception was after the September 11 terrorist attacks, when George Bush had high popularity among Americans due to public sentiment and national unity, and his party succeeded in the elections. Before that, Bill Clinton won a landslide victory as a Republican in the midterm elections of his second term.
Based on this, almost all Republican experts anticipated the success of taking control of the House of Representatives. The Democrats’ superiority in the House of Representatives after the previous election was very fragile. In addition, a few Democratic representatives joined the Biden administration, and the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives decreased by five seats. This disruptive level of superiority was also due to the phenomenon known as gerrymandering, which is nothing but the manipulation of electoral district maps within states in advance. Ultimately, no one will be surprised by the Republicans’ victory in the House of Representatives election.
But that’s not the whole story. Democrats also have a great opportunity to maintain their majority in the Senate in this year’s elections, and they need to successfully navigate the electoral process in the United States Congress. Every two years, one-third of the Senate seats are up for election, and the combination of states holding elections this year is more favorable for Democrats than the situation two years ago and even two years from now. They must retain control of the Senate. This necessity arises from the fact that in the past two years, they have been engaged in a 50-50 power struggle in the Senate, and their control of the chamber is due to the presence of Democrats in the White House. The Vice President is the President of the Senate by law and in the event of a tie, their vote is decisive. Thus, the Democrats have a clear advantage in the Senate in a 50-50 split. In these past two years of special politics, two Democratic representatives who have been the driving force behind Biden’s agenda, Joe Manchin from West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema from Arizona, have caused great frustration for him and the Democrats. These two senators, due to the political nature of their states, cannot follow the Democrats’ extreme positions. However, both Senator Manchin’s cooperation and Senator Sinema’s connections to energy companies and special financial support have played a significant role in their game.
