New Canadian sanctions against the Islamic Republic
The Canadian government announced today, Tuesday, March 27, that in the new round of sanctions against the Islamic Republic, two Iranian institutions and eight Iranian officials have been sanctioned for human rights violations and the production of drones and ballistic missiles.
This is the tenth round of Canadian sanctions against Iran since October last year, targeting the authorities of the Revolutionary Guards and the Iranian police in response to recent protests.
These sanctions also include several Iranian officials involved in the production of drones and ballistic missiles.
Reuters reported that Melanie Joly, the Canadian Foreign Minister, stated in a statement that she wants the Iranian regime to stop suppressing the Iranian people and to address their demands with goodwill.
Since the start of nationwide protests in Iran after the death of Mahsa Amini in the custody of the Basij forces and the severe and deadly suppression by the security forces, Canada has imposed sanctions on dozens of Iranian officials and institutions of the Islamic Republic.
