Extension of Suspension in Choosing a President

After McCarty, the Republican presidential candidate, failed to obtain the necessary votes in six rounds, the US House of Representatives postponed the election session to today, Friday, at 12:00 local time.

According to rumors published by local media, McCarty is inclined to negotiate and engage with his party’s opponents, in order to reach an agreement and achieve the desired outcome with certainty.

McCarty’s failure in these six voting rounds indicates internal divisions within the two factions of the Republican Party, emphasizing the ongoing conflict between the Trump faction and the moderate faction of the Republican Party. Despite winning the majority of seats in the House with 222 seats, their success in choosing a president was below expectations, and many candidates supported by former US President Donald Trump were defeated.

Yesterday, on Thursday, January 4th, Donald Trump broke his silence regarding the election of the Speaker of the House and invited everyone to vote for McCarty on the Truth social network.

In the sixth vote, the final result was as follows: 212 votes for Hakim Jeffries, the leader of the Democratic Party, 201 votes for McCarty, and 20 votes for his Republican rival, Byron Donalds. In the past century, this is the first time the United States has faced such an incident in a game.

The Washington Post recalled in a report that a similar incident occurred in 1923, and the voting took place over two days to elect the Speaker of the House. At that time, the Republican candidate was Frederick Gillette, who competed with his fellow party member from the progressive faction. After four unsuccessful votes, it was decided to postpone the session to the next day. Gillette eventually won in the ninth attempt, but only received 215 votes, the lowest result in history.

The longest deadlock dates back to 1855, when 133 votes were required for Nathaniel Banks to be elected as the Speaker of the House.
