Yesterday's Comrades, Tomorrow's Rivals

Yesterday’s companions are tomorrow’s rivals.

Pence in the square against Trump with the intention of seizing the White House.

According to IranGate’s report, with the entry of former Vice President Donald Trump, the number of Republican candidates for the 2024 presidential election has increased. However, in the polls, Pence is behind due to his late entry compared to Trump and Ron DeSantis.

The competition among Republican candidates is very intense, and the number of candidates increases every day. Mike Pence, the former Vice President under Trump, officially entered the competition on Thursday, June 7th, and presented his election documents, essentially challenging his former boss. He intends to gain the support of more conservative religious voters.

From the very beginning, it seems that Pence has embarked on a path full of ups and downs. As polls show, he will be able to gain a small percentage of consensus among party bases. Based on these polls, he is somewhat behind in the competition due to his delayed entry.

Currently, numerous individuals have entered the field to obtain the presidency and surpass Trump. One of the first and most serious competitors of the former president is Ron DeSantis, the former governor of Florida, who is still recognized as the toughest rival. However, DeSantis has recently lost some of his position due to his wrong actions, lack of charisma, and necessary brilliance, and he faces a tough challenge against Trump, who has twice his popularity and chances.

In these competitions, Senator Tim Scott, one of the few African-American Republican leaders, and Nikki Haley, the former United States ambassador to the United Nations, are also present. It is expected that in the coming hours and days, other figures from the Republican Party will announce their candidacy for the next year’s elections. Among these individuals is Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey and a prominent critic of Trump, who intentionally unveiled his presence in the electoral competitions last week.

As there is almost a year and a half left until the elections, the countdown for the state primaries and party conventions has begun. Traditionally, the intra-party elections in the United States start in the state of Iowa, and as a result, the first clashes between Republican candidates and their power tests will also begin here.

Winning the Iowa caucus does not guarantee the nomination for the victorious candidate, but it can boost their campaign morale and be effective in attracting more financial support. Pence, in order to have a chance, must endure the initial stages and present an image of himself as an anti-Trump to appeal to traditional conservative voters. This is the first time in American history that a former vice president and former president will duel for a party nomination.

Mike Pence, the former governor of Indiana, can have a better chance among evangelical voters due to his historic opposition to abortion rights and defense of traditional conservative values. He served as a loyal defender of Donald Trump as vice president, but there were disagreements between the two after Trump’s electoral defeat in the White House race in late 2022.

These differences began when Trump, after Biden’s victory, pressured Pence to work with him to overturn the legitimate election result, that is, to refuse to certify the election result as a ceremonial formality for the Vice President. However, Pence did not accept the request, and this caused a strain in their relationship.

Furthermore, during the attack on Congress by Trump supporters on January 6, 2021, this relationship worsened to the point where chants were heard among the violent protesters to hang Mike Pence. Pence was cautious in openly criticizing the former president for a long time.

However, in March, Trump condemned the irresponsible remarks during the January 6 violence and announced that Donald Trump’s date will be held accountable. Mike Pence said, ‘I believe that someone who considers themselves above the Constitution should never be the President of the United States. Someone who asks others to put them above the Constitution should never be President of the United States again.’

This is while Trump had previously blamed Mike Pence for the attack by some of his Republican supporters on the Capitol building. The former governor and representative of Indiana, referring to the fact that Trump had falsely claimed that his deputy had the power to change the outcome of the previous election, added that the American people deserve this.

They should know that on that day, President Trump asked me to choose between him and the Constitution. Now, Republican voters are faced with the same choice of whether to choose me as a supporter of the Constitution or someone else, a former deputy of Trump who tried to target Senator Dsantis and criticized his recent remarks about America’s misguided policies in the Ukraine and Russia war.

Chris Christie is not a leader like Trump.

The former governor of New Jersey has started his campaign for the White House, and it seems that his goal is to free the Republican Party from the clutches of wealthy businessman Donald Trump. Chris Christie claims that Trump is not a suitable choice for the presidency after inciting the attack on Congress. The new presidential candidate, Chris Christie, is a former Republican governor of New Jersey who, in 2016, after a disappointing primary campaign in New Hampshire, endorsed Donald Trump.

But today, he finds himself directly opposed to Donald Trump and is set to compete with him for entry into the White House. He claims that the former president is not a leader. Trump quickly responded to his remarks, saying it would be hard and boring to watch, but that’s what you get from a failed governor who was removed from office with only 7% of the votes.

Chris Christie, who in the past gained the title of Governor of America due to his skill and ability in rebuilding the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, separated himself from the Republican Party by immediately attacking Trump upon announcing his candidacy. He said, ‘I cannot guarantee your success, but I can assure you that you will have no doubt about who I am and what I stand for.’

He continued, ‘Beware of those who claim they never make mistakes or those who have never made a mistake. Also, be wary of those who always blame others when a mistake occurs or those who believe they have never experienced failure.’

Many believe that despite having slim chances of winning the 2024 election, Christie’s disdain for Trump could pose a problem for this influential capitalist. Christie possesses a strong and charismatic personality.

Currently, based on surveys and expert analysis, despite investigations and legal issues, former President Donald Trump still maintains a clear superiority among party bases and has almost twice the chance compared to his competitors among party voters. He also has more supporters, despite all the controversies and legal cases surrounding him.
