Abtahi’s reaction to the recent statements of Alimaleki is that your retirement is the best way to strengthen the system.
Mohammad Ali Abtahi, former chief of staff of Khatami, wrote on his Twitter about the recent remarks of Ahmad Alimaleki, the Friday prayer leader of Mashhad. He wrote, ‘What’s the difference between a restaurant and a canteen? They both have lunch. But you only define lunch as a baseless system that weakens the common ground and leads to all this lying, stealing, and incompetence.’
Finally, he addressed Mr. Alimaleki and wrote, ‘Your retirement itself is the best way to strengthen the system, May God be with you.’
Mr. Alimaleki had said in yesterday’s Friday prayer on April 4th that ‘Immorality and corruption are emerging among a group of young people who insist on sitting together and having meals together in the university canteen, where both male and female students are served. These non-religious people are becoming more visible.’
He considered religion and faith as the foundation of the Islamic Republic system and had said, ‘If your religion is harmed and receives a blow, it will also affect the strength and foundation of the system.’
During the recent protests in Iran, some officials implemented gender segregation in universities. However, students protested against this action and mixed genders in various universities.
