Inflated election campaigns in the United States
The inflated election campaigns for the 2022 elections in the United States have entered another week of their final phase, and absentee and postal voting is being conducted in various states until November 8th, when the final step will be taken. The most significant event this week for American campaigns was the presentation of a report on the economic situation of inflation in the United States and the prices of consumer goods.
While the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund was answering questions from reporters at a joint meeting of this organization and the World Bank, the statistics for September in the United States were announced, and the news of an 82% inflation rate, which indicated a higher inflation rate than predicted, negatively affected the stock and finance markets.
Joe Biden and the White House quickly reacted to this inflation news, and the White House’s narrative in its statement and Biden’s statements in his conversations took on a strong election tone. Biden referred to the worsening situation in the event of Republican dominance, and the White House’s statement highlighted the recent achievements of the US government, stating that inflation in the past three months has been only 2% net.
These ideas and statements are very accurate and relevant, but they will not be pleasing to American voters, especially considering the annual inflation rate and all the recorded figures regarding food prices in America. Biden and the Democrats need to reach a maximum level of unity in expressing and narrating their economic policies, which is quite challenging and progressive extremists are not fully supportive of Biden.
Now the Democrats need to make an effort again to highlight other issues such as abortion and the blows to the Supreme Court in this regard, along with the extremism of Republican-supported candidates during Trump’s presidency. The economic situation has become so complex that the historic achievements of the Biden administration, especially in terms of employment, do not resonate with voters. How much time do the Democrats have for this program? Just a few days.
