The International Union for Conservation of Nature's Annual Report: 80 Wildlife Species in Iran Are at Risk of Extinction

The annual report of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) states that 80 species of wildlife in Iran are at risk of complete extinction.

According to the 2022 report by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), 80 species of wildlife in Iran are at risk of complete extinction.

Based on this report, nearly 80 species of vertebrates in Iran are listed as endangered on the international Red List of Threatened Species.

The Rokna News Agency, in publishing the same report, refers to the lack of a comprehensive and practical plan for wildlife conservation and states that there are no signs of improvement in the country.

Fereshteh Sa’ei, an environmental expert and activist, also mentioned the IUCN report and stated that the latest statistics from this international organization indicate that Iran has 75 threatened vertebrate species, including 18 mammal species, 29 bird species, 4 reptile species, and 16 amphibian species, all of which are registered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
