€10 Million Fine for TikTok in Italy

10 million euro fine for TikTok in Italy

On Thursday, March 14th, Italy imposed a 10 million euro fine on TikTok, citing insufficient measures by TikTok to protect minors as the reason for the penalty.

The Italian Competition Authority, which oversees the enforcement of commercial competition and advertising laws, stated that TikTok has failed to implement appropriate mechanisms to monitor published content, especially in cases that might threaten the safety of minors and vulnerable individuals.

The 10 million euro fine for TikTok comes a day after U.S. lawmakers passed legislation to ban the use of this software.
