21,000 Iranians in the EU asylum queue

According to statistics from the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA), nearly one million asylum applications were registered in member countries of this union in 2022. This unprecedented figure is comparable to the migration crisis of 2015-2016. The latest report from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Commission, indicates that at the end of 2022, more than 21,000 Iranians were also waiting for the results of their asylum applications in one of the EU member countries. Among them, 14,405 had applied for asylum in Germany, and 1,400 were in the queue for asylum in the Netherlands. The number of Iranians seeking asylum in European countries was reported to be 18,975 in July 2022, marking an increase of about 12% over five months.
