5 people in Tanzania died due to the Marburg virus

The Tanzanian Ministry of Health says 5 people have died due to Marburg disease, which originates from bats and is similar to Ebola.

The Marburg virus spreads between people through close contact with the body fluids of an infected person or contaminated surfaces such as sheets. Without treatment, this disease can lead to death in 88% of cases.

According to the World Health Organization, outbreaks of Marburg disease have been confirmed in Angola, Congo, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, and Ghana.
