58 people died due to a boat capsizing in the Central African Republic

In another tragedy in the impoverished Central African Republic, more than 50 people died in a boat capsizing

France24 reported that the head of civil protection in the Central African Republic said at least 58 people, who were going for a funeral, lost their lives due to a cargo-laden boat capsizing in Bangui, the country’s capital

So far, the bodies of 58 have been pulled from the water, but dozens more are still missing. According to witnesses and videos available on social media, this boat was carrying over 300 passengers, some standing and others sitting on wooden structures, when it sank on Friday in the Mpoko River

Rescue teams arrived at the scene 40 minutes after the disaster
