The Asian Football Confederation has stated that Persepolis does not have the right to use the Persepolis-branded jersey.
Persepolis had unveiled its new jersey to wear in the first week of the Asian Champions League against Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia until September 17.
However, the Asian Football Confederation has informed Persepolis through letters that they do not have the right to use this jersey in the Champions League.
The design on the mentioned jersey is a representation of Persepolis’ Persepolis Palace, which was built during the Achaemenid dynasty 518 years before the birth of Christ by Darius the Great in the present-day city of Marvdasht and further developed during the Parthian and Sassanid eras.
These nested palaces were set on fire by Alexander the Great 330 years before Christ, which are symbolic points in the fall of the Achaemenid dynasty.
Persepolis’ jersey with the design of Persepolis Palace was presented on August 17 when Persepolis representatives were in Kuala Lumpur for the draw, but its approval was postponed until 4 days before the game.
