Displaying political and religious images is prohibited by the Asian Football Confederation.
The Asian Football Confederation has once again warned clubs participating in Asian competitions to refrain from displaying political and religious figures in the stadiums where the matches are held. If such images are published, AFC will penalize and suspend the respective club.
Saudi Arabian journalist Badr Al-Obaid, close to the AFC, wrote on his social media page that both the Asian Football Confederation and FIFA have banned such actions and will punish any violations. The latest case of such penalties was imposed on Iran’s Sepahan team in the previous season when they displayed images of political figures before a match with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad team in the stadium.
Iran’s football teams Esteghlal and Persepolis represent Iran in the AFC Champions League, while Tractor and Sepahan represent Iran in the AFC Champions League. Each of them has experienced one game in the new Asian season, with Esteghlal and Tractor succeeding in defeating their opponents, while Persepolis and Sepahan were defeated by their rivals.
