Fereydoun Abbasi: It is better to gradually adjust the prices of energy carriers to reflect their real value.
Fereydoun Abbasi, a member of the Energy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, stated in an interview with Mostaghel Online.
We must prepare ourselves to import gasoline when necessary. However, if we want to import gasoline, we must pay its global price in the open markets. When this gasoline is imported, the government must provide a subsidy so that it reaches the people at domestic prices. Therefore, it is better for us to gradually adjust the prices of energy carriers to reflect their real value. However, this action should be carried out in a way that allows society to adjust itself and prevents a sudden economic shock to people’s lives.
