Former Google China Chief Lags Behind America by 6 Months in Artificial Intelligence

Former Google China chief is six months behind the US in artificial intelligence

Kai-Fu Lee, former head of Google China, says that Chinese AI models are about six months behind the models used in the United States and could soon surpass them in terms of acceptance.

According to CNBC, Lee explained at the AVCJ China Private Equity Forum that less advanced Chinese models are nearly 15 months behind their American counterparts, but large language models (LLMs) used by Chinese companies are 6 to 9 months behind the American versions.

Similar to the United States, many leading technology companies in China have ventured into the AI sector in recent times. Companies like Alibaba and Tencent have already released several versions of their AI models and applications, investing billions of dollars in smaller AI startups.
