Penetration to the depth of strategic centers

Penetration to the depth of strategic centers, extensive information about the events of Friday in Isfahan and Tabriz has not been published. What we know is that several suspicious objects flew into the air and activated defense systems. Whatever the operation was, it was neutralized, but a hidden point within this incident needs to be investigated.

Initially, the narrative of this operation was the use of drones. The spokesman for the National Space Organization referred to 3 drones, and Hossein Amirabdollahian also presented the same narrative in New York. Therefore, we also assume the use of drones.

This narrative becomes more important as some media reports and statements by some domestic officials indicate that quadcopters were used. The use of these commercial drones may seem ridiculous, but it sends a bad message to us: penetration to a few meters of the target.

Training small birds to fly requires an operator. If the events in Tabriz and Isfahan are related, we will focus on Isfahan. Isfahan is located in the center of Iran. If hypothetical teams have entered the country, they probably had three routes to reach Isfahan and then possibly Georgia.

Entering from the eastern, western, or southern borders of the country, the distance from the eastern border to Isfahan, considering Zahedan as the starting point, is over 1000 kilometers. The distance from the Persian Gulf coast, considering Bandar Abbas as the entry point, to Isfahan is over 900 kilometers.

The western border, considering Marivan in Kurdistan province, is about 800 kilometers away from Isfahan. In this scenario, teams with the mission of sabotage related to foreign services have entered Iran without any problems, reaching deep into the country.

The third more pessimistic scenario is the presence of a team near the target for a long time. Isfahan is one of the country’s provinces hosting military sites and defense industries, and the presence of an enemy is not unnatural. If the mentioned team has not entered the country for the purpose of carrying out this operation, which involves flying and possibly targeting specific points, it means that they have been stationed near the targets for an unknown period or have come to Isfahan from other points within the country upon receiving the operation execution order.

Previously, I wrote that the use of commercial quadcopters may seem ridiculous on the surface, but it carries an important message. The flight radius of these birds does not exceed one kilometer, and their flight endurance is not more than a few minutes. If the narrative of using these types of birds is correct, it indicates penetration up to a maximum of a kilometer distance, which was close enough for the operator or operators to prepare and launch the birds.

If the bird is equipped with a camera and can send images to the device controller, we can consider the maximum distance. Otherwise, the target is likely within the view of potential operators. Finally, I remind readers of this note that victory and defeat have always existed and will continue to exist in the silent confrontation of security devices throughout history and around the world.

Reminding of these scenarios is simply to draw attention to some possibilities. Past experiences show that the sensitivity level of security institutions may increase. These days, we may witness arrests in this regard. The bitter message of these failed infiltration operations goes deep into the soil of Iran and must be taken seriously. Recent movements, whatever they were, failed and did not reach the goal. The important point is that when tension in the region is at a high level, all our considerations should be taken into account.
