A group of psychiatrists requests the head of the judiciary to review Mohammad Ghobadlou’s medical records
More than 50 psychiatrists have written a letter to Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of Iran’s judiciary, requesting the formation of a council of reputable psychiatrists to review all the medical records of Mohammad Ghobadlou, a detained protester sentenced to death on charges of waging war against God.
The signatories of this letter have stated that due to the complexity of psychiatric diagnoses, especially cyclical disorders like bipolar disorder, and given the differing opinions among doctors regarding Mohammad Ghobadlou’s mental state, they are requesting a more thorough psychiatric evaluation of his condition.
The letter also mentions that reviewing the medical records, interviewing the patient, family, and previous doctors can assist the judiciary in reaching a verdict based on scientific standards and clinical evidence that is accurate and fair.
Mohammad Ghobadlou is among the prisoners accused of deliberately running over a group of police officers and killing Officer Farid Karampour.
