A Hezbollah Supporter in Lebanon Arrested in Bucharest

A supporter of Hezbollah in Lebanon was arrested in Bucharest

U.S. judicial authorities announced on Friday, February 24th, that Mohammad Ibrahim Bazzi, a Lebanese-Belgian citizen and a key figure in financing Hezbollah, was arrested at Bucharest airport, the capital of Romania.

According to the Associated Press, 58-year-old Mohammad Ibrahim Bazzi was designated as a global terrorist by the United States in 2018, and a $10 million reward was set for information about him.

American officials say Mohammad Ibrahim Bazzi has provided millions of dollars for Hezbollah, a group supported by Iran.

Breon Peace, the district attorney for Brooklyn, New York, stated that the extradition of Mohammad Ibrahim Bazzi and 78-year-old Lebanese citizen Talal Chahine is being pursued based on charges outlined in an indictment that was opened last month in a federal court in Brooklyn.
