A member of the Parliament’s presiding board announced a new plan for monitoring and dealing with celebrities on social media.

He spoke about the latest government efforts to monitor and control online content, saying that we currently have plans in Parliament to obligate the judiciary to address the responsibilities that arise when individuals post messages on social media. This pertains to people who have a certain social standing, referred to as celebrities.

Referring to the recent protests in Iran, he said, in these recent issues, a certain actor or athlete spreads a lie and disrupts the entire psychological security of society with it.

In recent years, the Iranian government has sought to monitor the internet.

The Islamic Republic, by establishing bodies such as the Supreme Council of Cyberspace and cyber police, and by approving various plans, including the Protection Plan, has tried to take control of the internet.
