Two local sources from Bamiyan have confirmed to the BBC that as a result of shooting by unknown armed individuals, a number of foreign tourists and local people in the center of this province have been killed and injured

According to one of these sources, the incident occurred around 6 PM local time in the central market of Bamiyan in front of the Lajaward restaurant

Abdul Matin Qane, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior of the Taliban government, has confirmed the occurrence of this attack on foreign tourists in the city of Bamiyan in a conversation with the BBC but has not provided further details

Images sent by one of these sources to the BBC show two bodies beside a vehicle that apparently belongs to foreign tourists

The exact number of casualties and the nationality of the tourists are not yet known
