A professor from the University of Tehran was dismissed for supporting protesters

Reports indicate that Arash Raeesinejad, a professor at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Tehran who had supported protesting students during the nationwide protests in Iran, has been dismissed from the university.

Ali Sharifi Zarchi, a professor at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, announced Mr. Raeesinejad’s dismissal on Twitter on Sunday, April 23, and wrote that he had supported students in the fall.

Raeesinejad himself also confirmed his dismissal by reposting this tweet and wrote, ‘What would it be like if a day comes when an Iranian family can have a life of comfort, joy, and dignity in their own home, Iran? Will I see that day? I don’t know, but I hope for that day.’

Raeesinejad is a graduate of Florida International University and has written articles and books on geopolitical issues in the region.
