Abbas Abdi: The voter turnout in Tehran will be below 15 percent

Abbas Abdi wrote in the Etemad newspaper, ‘I guess that with these results, the voter turnout in Tehran will now be below 15 percent, not only in Tehran but also in other major cities of the country. Although this survey provides a more accurate picture of our perceptions of people’s electoral behavior, everyone more or less knew that the state of participation is not at all desirable.’

Some others are already blaming the enemy, claiming that they want to discourage people and turn the election into a referendum against the system. This is also a futile effort because what they call the enemy has always existed and was actually stronger in the past.

In the fourth parliamentary election, they fully supported the right-wing faction to take control of the parliament. Therefore, the enemy cannot do anything different than in the past, a past where we had elections with about 80 percent turnout.

The real enemy is our delusion and lack of awareness about society.
