Abbas Araqchi: We Must Reconsider How We Cooperate with the Agency

Abbas Araghchi: We must reconsider how we cooperate with the Agency

Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in an interview with Al Jazeera regarding relations with the Agency, said that many people in Iran believe that the Agency’s inspections and the acquisition of information by the Agency from Iran’s nuclear facilities led to valuable information being transferred to Israel and the United States, which resulted in attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities. They hold the Agency’s inspectors responsible for the transfer of this information. After the military operations, we were forced to suspend our cooperation with the Agency.

He emphasized that the Cairo agreement no longer has the necessary effectiveness, and we must reconsider how we cooperate with the Agency, and this is something that will happen.

Araghchi said, ‘We did not attack Qatar, but rather we attacked the American base in Qatar. If a war occurs between us and America and America attacks our nuclear facilities, it must certainly expect that we will also attack American military bases. It does not matter where these bases are located. We live in complete friendship with our neighboring countries and have no issues with Qatar or other countries in the region, but unfortunately, the American base is located on the soil of some countries. Therefore, our war will be with America, and our attacks will be on American bases.’
