Around 40 students in Shanderman, Masal were poisoned

Media in Iran have reported that about 40 students were poisoned at Esmat Shanderman School in Masal, Gilan Province, on March 6th.

Gholamreza Gil Chalani, the governor of Masal, said 43 female students from Esmat Shanderman School fell ill due to inhaling an unknown substance, with 21 receiving emergency care and 22 admitted to various hospital wards.

The governor of Masal described the general condition of the students as suitable and said the rest of the students went home after receiving outpatient treatment.

The chain of poisonings in mostly girls’ schools in Iran began about three months ago, and officials have yet to announce a specific cause.

This morning, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of Iran, called these poisonings a major and unforgivable crime and demanded more seriousness in dealing with those responsible.
