Abstention of Iran and China on the UN Resolution Condemning Russia

Iran and China’s Abstention Vote on the Resolution Condemning Russia at the United Nations

Iran, India, and China are among the 32 countries that abstained from voting on the United Nations General Assembly resolution condemning Russia, which was passed with a large majority.

This is the fourth time Beijing has abstained in UN votes related to Ukraine. Recently, the country has expressed solidarity with Russia.

Despite sending kamikaze drones to Russia, Iran also abstained from voting on this resolution. Iran claims that these drones were not sent to aid Russia or for use in the Ukraine war.

India and South Africa were also among the 32 countries that abstained from voting on the resolution.

The seven countries that voted against the resolution are Belarus, Mali, Nicaragua, Russia, Syria, North Korea, and Eritrea.
