Abtahi's Reaction to the Lahijan Friday Imam: Unveiled Women Are Not Foreign Enemies for the City to Fall

Abtahi’s reaction to the Friday prayer leader of Lahijan: The unveiled are not foreign enemies for the city to fall.

Mohammad Ali Abtahi, the former chief of staff for Khatami, in response to the tweet by Javad Soleimani, the Friday prayer leader of Lahijan city, regarding mandatory hijab, wrote: Mr. Friday prayer leader, the unveiled are not foreign enemies for the city to fall. They are the children of this land, don’t send out radio messages. Your language only leads to the spread of unveiling.

A few days ago, Mr. Soleimani had written on his Twitter page: From Lahijan to the center, do you hear my voice? The city is falling. It has reached a point where even sisters with loose hijabs are complaining about the nudity of some unveiled individuals. Our commanders and soldiers have been captured. We are here until the end, we won’t let the martyrs be saddened. Why don’t you speak up?

He ended his sentences with the hashtag martyr.
