Accounts of Sexual Harassment of Students at the Faculty of Foreign Languages

The National Student Councils reported today, Monday, January 2, 2023, on extensive verbal and physical sexual harassment of students at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of Tehran by some security personnel of this faculty.

Some students of this faculty have recounted instances of this harassment, detailing encounters they faced while commuting to the faculty.

In most accounts, it is mentioned that the security officers use vulgar language to address students with specific attire and ask them to declare whether they are a girl or a boy.

One of the students narrating these accounts wrote that when they went to the university last week wearing a long skirt, one of the security officers, who had not been stationed there before, told them to take off even that one piece so everyone could enjoy.

In their report, these students strongly condemned the sadistic and vindictive behavior of the security personnel and the incompetence of the faculty’s administration in ensuring physical and psychological safety.
