Accusation of Deliberate Smuggling of the Film ‘Leila’s Brothers’

Following the reception of the banned film ‘Leila’s Brothers’ on social media, Rouhollah Sohrabi, the Director General of Supervision on Film Screening at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, accused Saeed Roustayi, the director of the film, of deliberately smuggling it.

Saeed Roustayi recently expressed his amazement on Instagram at the positive reaction to the film and expressed hope for the release of a more complete version of it.

Now, the Director General of Supervision on Film Screening at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has stated that if necessary, he will reveal new and important aspects regarding the release of this film on social networks. He also mentioned that the approval for the production of ‘Leila’s Brothers’ was obtained during the previous government, after receiving several recommendations about the necessity of respecting parents and safeguarding the family’s status.
