Acting Foreign Minister: Our Goal is to Revive the JCPOA, Not a New Agreement

The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs: Our goal is to revive the JCPOA, not a new agreement.

Ali Bagheri Kani, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, traveled to New York to attend two Security Council meetings and spoke with Fareed Zakaria, the host of CNN.

Bagheri Kani stated that the U.S. withdrew from the JCPOA, causing the agreement to be damaged. He said, ‘We are still a member of the JCPOA, and the U.S. has not yet been able to return to it. Our goal is to revive the 2015 agreement, and we are not seeking a new agreement.’

He further said, ‘In the nuclear issue, our effort is to use all the capacities available to the Islamic Republic of Iran within the framework of the NPT treaty and the safeguards agreement. We do not need to consider capacities outside the framework of the NPT treaty or the safeguards agreement.’
