The Asian Football Confederation has stated that Persepolis is not allowed to use the jersey featuring the image of Persepolis (Takht-e Jamshid).
Persepolis unveiled its new jersey, planning to wear it on September 17 in the first week of the AFC Champions League against Al Ahli Saudi FC.
However, the Asian Football Confederation sent a letter to Persepolis Club, stating that they are not permitted to use this jersey in the AFC Champions League.
The design on the mentioned jersey features an image of Persepolis (Takht-e Jamshid), which was constructed during the Achaemenid Empire and initiated by Darius I in 518 BC at the current location of the city of Marvdasht. It was further developed during the reigns of Xerxes and Artaxerxes I.
These intricate palaces were set on fire by Alexander the Great in 330 BC, marking a symbolic point in the fall of the Achaemenid Empire.
The Persepolis jersey with the Takht-e Jamshid design was presented on August 17 when Persepolis representatives were in Kuala Lumpur for the draw, but its approval or rejection was postponed until four days before the match.
